So just a few hours before I watched the worst Super Bowl I've ever seen in my life, my Facebook wall was blowing up with eulogies for Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Just a few days ago I was watching a DVR of Dark Knight, a film I christened the best super hero movie ever made. The biggest reason that movie was so good was because of Heath Ledger, a man who went out just like Hoffman, six months before The Dark Knight was released.

I don't think a celebrity death has hit people so hard. The outpouring of online grief was everywhere. I can remember how happy I was when I heard Hoffman was going to play Truman Capote. I knew he was going to be perfect for that role.

Not the best way to start what was supposed to be a glorious Sunday.

- As far the Super Bowl, it was, without a doubt, the worst Super Bowl I've ever seen. The game was over when the Broncos' center hiked the ball into the endzone for a safety on the first play. It started a downward spiral that led to a one sided beating, which is never fun to watch. Even fans of the winning team wouldn't mind even a little suspense with the game. Was it because the Seahawks were so good? Or because the Broncos were that awful? Actually, because both.

- It almost seems like par for the course this year. In January my street blew up, then I smashed my head open trying to see my sports massage therapist, and I recently strained my calf on a long run while training for the Austin Marathon on February 16th, making my missing my second ever attempt to run an out of state marathon a distinctly possible no go.

My PT says I might heal up in time to run the Austin Marathon on February 16th, "Just don't expect to run a PR." I don't mind if I don't run a PR. I'd just like to finish the damn thing. My first attempt to run an outside-of-California Marathon ended up with me having to drop out of the race after 5 miles because of a strained calf. If I can't do Austin, I'll be 0-2 in outside-of-California marathon attempts. :P

It would mean a lot to me if I could complete the Austin Marathon, even with a crappy run time. It would really help to make up for the awful start to this year.
