Hello again!
Apr. 8th, 2017 08:27 amI haven't messed with this Dreamwidth since 2012. The reason I created it was essentially as a Livejournal lifeboat.
We were always thinking about when Livejournal would go out of business, or go dark all of a sudden, or just become so chaotic or disorganized that we would have to abandone it. Now with the scary TOS or else bitch guard messsing with peoples' minds, LJers of all stripes are abandoning LJ in droves. (At least the ones I know!) They're archiving their posts and deleting their LJs, and many are moving to Dreamwidth, or just posting like crazy on Facebook. It seems Livejournal will be the instrument of its own demise.
I rarely used my Livejournal anymore. The place has become a field of tumbleweeds and crickets, most of its active users being sucked away by the ubiquitous Facebook. A few diehard fans kept their Livejournals going, but my LJ communities, one of the driving forces that really kept me active there for so long, were dead. Petbulls and Runners, two of my fave LJ communities, were just empty shells of their formerly vibrant selves.
I still do post, but mostly on a Wordpress site. And speaking of stalwarts, I was the only LJer who posted any race reports in the Runners community for the past several years. I posted my last report in that commuity in January. Obviously I won't be posting there any more.
In any case, like many of my LJ friends I will click through the scary TOS firewall that's prevented me from looking at my Livejournal and archive what I haven't archived already and then proceed to download and then delete my Livejournal. Or who knows, maybe I will just let it stay up as an archive. (May consult some more nerds about that. Don't want Putin to try and track me down and poison me!)
In the next few days I'll post some of my Terminal Berkeley Denizen posts here, and from then on I will X-post from my wordpress site. Hello again Dreamwidth!
