So the only shows I watch religiously are The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, (DVR em',) and The Walking Dead, the zombie show that I think is dumb but I can't stop watching it anyways.
I've also started watcing some episodes of @Midnight because I think it's pretty funny.
I did watch the new Cosmos, which I thought was good, but it will never ever come even close to the original for one reason: Commercials. You want to duplicate the original Cosmos? Put it on PBS or HBO, or another cable channel that will show it WITHOUT COMMERCIALS!!! (That's old school Billions and Billions coming through!) The advertising interruptions really harsh my buzz.
I also did recently check out an oft-recommended show Portlandia. A lot of people rally like this show and are ga-ga over it, but I wasn't impressed. I thought some bits were funny, and others not so, but I also found it derogatory.
One of the things that bugs me about Portlandia is the whole "slacker" label, which was iomplied in a few bits I saw to varying degrees. The slacker label insinuates that young people haven't done much with their lives because they're lazy, scatterbrained, or simply uninspired. The whole "slacker" label came up in the 80's when the economy started to tank. It was a rationlization for all of the young people who were struggling to find work or well paying jobs.
To be fair, I haven't watched Portlandia that many times, so I might go back and check out some other episodes and give it another chance.
