Der FernsehTurm and a pair of lost photos.

One of the things I decided to do this time around was go up in Berlin's gigante' FernsehTurm. (TV Tower.) It's got an observation deck and even a rotating cafe'!

Behold! It's really frickin' tall!

A view from above. This thing is WAY higher than the St Nikolai tower in Hamburg! In order to get this view, you had to wait to take a tiny, wobbly elevator up to the top. The staff make sure that only a certain number of people are ever high up at one time, so it doesn't get too crowded and people start fighting for viewing space. It's 9 Euros for adults to go up, but it's defintely worth it!

Wasn't exactly the easiest excursion for me. I have a fear of heights. Well, I don't actually have a fear of heights per se, it's more like I have a fear of falling from a really high distance and going splat!

Hello! Me high up.

A few more vacation pics:

Behold! The Berliner Dom! Yet another cake-or-death edifice in Germany. They have a lot of them here. It's a Cathedral that looks older than it actually is. Again, why can't we do ultra fancy goth here in the US?

I misplaced a couple of piccies on my laptop, having copied them to the wrong folder. Only recently found them. Here's a couple:

Another view of Pfaueninsel. It's a great place to go for a nice, Relaxing zen-like walk.

Here's the Wannsee Conference building that I talked about earlier, the meeting place for Nazi brass to discuss the Nazi's "Final Solution". It's now a holocaust memorial. Brace yourself for this exhibit, should you decide to see it, especially if you're not all that knowledgeable about the holocaust.

The Pfaueninsel river.

Yeah, we have a similar thing in Dallas, the Reunion Tower. I, too, am afraid of heights so I've only been up there once. I want to go one day and set up a camera on a tripod and take a picture every minute or so, and stitch together a big panorama.

It wasn't so bad in this tower. It felt pretty solid, even if the elevator didn't, so I was able to restrain my eek! feeling at being about 500,000 feet in the air. There are some older church towers in Berlin, where when you walk to the top it's just you, a platform about a meter wide, and a thin wire fence between you and certain death. That's a real eepers!

Yes, the view is beautiful, isn't it? And the food's not bad, either ;)

The view is awesome, but I didn't go into the cafe'. The line was reeeeally long! :(

I tried to see my house from up above, but it was a little difficult finding it. :P

I want to go!

I'd definitely recommend it! make it your destination if you have to flee the country.

My destination is more likely to be Wales or Amsterdam. Possibly London. I have to know someone....I've pretty much lost touch with family in Germany.
